- UCLA Mindful — free guided meditations you can stream or download, recorded by UCLA Mindful’s director. Great for straightforward mindfulness practices.
- Tara Brach — free guided meditations with a strong blend of mindfulness and emotional healing. Especially good for self-compassion, difficult emotions, and nervous-system calming.
- Insight Timer — huge free library of guided meditations from many teachers, with a strong self-compassion section as well.
- Mindful.org — lots of guided practices plus beginner-friendly meditation articles and how-to material.
- Palouse Mindfulness — a free online MBSR-style course based on Kabat-Zinn’s model, good for people who want something more structured than random meditations.
- Calm — strong for sleep, stress reduction, and short guided practices, though much of it is app-based and subscription-oriented.
- NIMH — reliable mental health self-care information from the National Institute of Mental Health. Good for psychoeducation and practical self-care guidance.
- SAMHSA — strong U.S. behavioral health resource hub, especially helpful when self-help needs to be paired with treatment or crisis resources.
- HelpGuide — practical, readable self-help content on anxiety, depression, stress, sleep, and relationships.
- NHS Every Mind Matters — very accessible self-help tools for stress, anxiety, sleep, and mood, including a personalized “Mind Plan.”
- Mind (UK charity) — good plain-language mental health information and support guidance.
